Hello from Substack. I decided I’d start with a little intro (for those who don’t know me) and why this platform. Stay tuned for a few fun things (like links to all my winter wear - as I’m learning to bear the cold in the NE winters for work) and all our favorites on our most recent trip to NYC. And potentially some other random things I’m thinking or learning lately.
A little about me: To get started, in my day life I’m a Business Consultant for one of the best chicken chains around. But on nights and weekends I’m dabbling in all things creative. I call this my “creative sanity” because, in fact it is.
Several years ago, I finally embraced this creative side of myself. I didn’t think I could call myself an artist because I wasn’t formally trained, and then I just started painting. It brought me so much joy that I realized that in denying this innate part of my being, I actually wasn’t being my full self (and pieces of my life were suffering).
When I finally accepted that I am a creative person and started practicing it, my life changed. I found contentment, happiness, and a connection to my spirituality I didn’t know existed. Leaning into my art fed my soul (you can read about this in my book “Unlock the Power to Feed Your Soul”).
Why this platform: I decided to explore this platform because, well, social just doesn’t always cut it for me and need I go into all the algorithms? I’m tired of that silly game. I could blog or podcast, but what I really want is to be more connected to you, my reader. So, I’ve decided to explore this with little expectation and very little plan - but if this is your thing, I’d love to learn what you are interested in!
Getting a little more personal: And now, for the more personal side. If you don’t already know me, I’m mom to two teens, Charlotte (16) and Douglass (15 next month), a golden doodle, Maggie (3), and wife to Doug (we’ve been married over 21 years). We live on the Eastside of Atlanta, Georgia in one of my favorite areas of town (a dream of ours I might one day share about). When I'm not creating (or working) we love walking all the fabulous parks, eating our way through the city, and enjoying a cocktail with friends and family on our porch overlooking the Beltline.
